dai dewdneyDavid Dewdney was quite a remarkable man, his style and fashion of mischievousness was subtle, drew people's attention at its sense of deliberate provocation and laughter - yet never with malicious intent. Yet there were some areas of his beliefs that he stood firm on, and was always prepared to expand on and defend his theories and principles.

By his report writing, which he carried out with honesty, accuracy and eloquence, he always promoted Kidwelly RFC as a Rugby Club with vision, ambition and endurance, he was an able and respected ambassador.

Dai was always a welcome and popular visitor to the Club, his entree into the lounge on a Friday night at around 9.45'ish with a soft drink in hand, would generate an air of 'Come on then Dai Dewdney, who or what is on the plate tonight?' Then in his own time he would proceed to make a comment or statement, be it media related or one made up by David himself, purely to generate discussion; his presence and contribution to Friday nights was laughter from one tale to another. Friday nights in the lounge will be quieter and less exciting now that Dai is not with us anymore, but he will be fondly and frequently remembered with great affection and respect.

Kidwelly RFC

This season sees five new sides in the division so it will be nice to renew acquaintances with these teams and also with the teams from last season.

This is the second season of our coaching staff of Head Coach Stan Liptrott, assistant Steve Williams and Fitness Coach Lyn Price. All of whom have put a lot of work into pre-season training and are expecting their efforts to be rewarded on the field.

Peter Morris is our Team Manager with his son Stuart, the youngest ever 1st team captain.

The 2nd XV play in Section B of Llanelli, District and are captained by Stuart Northcote, with Paul John as team manager.

The Youth team are in their 2nd season since being reformed, and captained by Liam Martin with his father Paul as team manager. They are coached by ex 1st team player Chris Flattery along with Dennis Hughes, both of whom expect to improve on last seasons success.

The successful Junior section are fielding eight age groups this season. They play on Sunday mornings, so please do come along and help support the future of the club.
