A Kidwelly team with a below strength front five, was no match for a felinfoel team who are flying high at the top of the division two, a fixture that could have been percieved as a potential `banana skin` for the leauge leaders, did not materialise, and with a try count of six to one in their favour, the visitors were comfortable winners.
It was Kidwelly that started the stronger, and after only five minutes should have taken the lead, a fine run by wing Rhys Jones breached the Foel defence but his scoring pass did not go to hand, the home team continued to dominate, and took the lead with a thirty meter penalty by fly half Leighton Walters, after twelve minutes Felinfoel struck back, from a line out ten meters from the home tryline, a catch and drive, led to flanker Mike Buckingham gaining the touchdown for an unconverted try, Kidwelly regained the lead, when an excellent threequarter movement saw wing Mathew Davies break two tackles to score on the corner flag, Walters converted, in the twentyfifth minute, a quickly taken tap penalty by Emyr Jones, saw him link with wing Chris Keenan who ran thirty five meters to score between the posts, outside half Jason Davies converted to give the visitors a narrow two point lead, on the half time whistle, the visitors further increased their lead with a push over try, Buckingham gaining the touchdown, to give Felinfoel a seventeen points to ten half time lead.
The second period saw the visitors continue to dominate, Emyr Jones stole over for a try, which Davies converted, then with twenty minutes remaining centre Steve Butcher took an inside pass to score, Jonathan Griffiths converted, and close to full time flanker Stuart Roberts touched down near the posts, Griffiths added the extra points, to give the visitors a far easier victory than they expected, for Kidwelly it was always going to be difficult with a weakened front five, but they gave of their best.
